Title: Deputy Chef (Cook)
Restaurant: Chinese and Vietnamese Cuisine
Qualifications:
*Chef Certification or at least 1 year of work experience; Training provided
*Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
*Visual requirements include vision from more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet with or without correction, and color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
*Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, finger dexterity, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
*Must have the ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
*Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers
*Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing
*Chinese or Vietnamese Speaking is preferred but not required.
Job Duties:
*Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs.
*Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
*Coordinate and supervise work of kitchen staff.
*Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
*Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork, and lamb for hot or cold service, or for sandwiches.
*Bake breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries.
*Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
*Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking.
*Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons.
*Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
*End of day kitchen cleaning.
Specific Skills:
*Wok cooking technique (Stir Fried, Pan Fried, Pow Wok, Deep Fried)
*Extensive background working in kitchens cooking meals
*Experience with all traditional Chinese recipes presentation styles and creating appropriate ambience
*Studied in Chinese culinary products cooking methods and techniques
*Knowledge of Chinese cooking practices used in the culture and cuisine
*Involved in development of menu detailed in Chinese food items
*Knowledge of Chinese spices and cooking tools
*Excellent at alternating food to taste diet etc.

Work Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Hours Per Week: 40
Offered:$19.70 - $20.00 Hourly
